By doing so, we produce a cyclohexane ring, which consists of cis and trans isomersof 4-(aminomethyl)cyclohexanecarboxylic acid.

Since tranexamic acid is a trans isomer, we subject the product to both isomerization and purification. After purification, we will have tranexamic acid in solution form, which we then evaporate and crystallize to form powder.
